Charli XCX, Bleachers, & BØRNS (7.21.15)

The Observatory | San Diego, CA | 7.21.15

This show was tons of fun. I took a half day at work, my best friend came to town, we ate at my favorite restaurant, and I got to shoot one of my favorite peformers, Jack Antonoff.

I had never been to this venue. It was alright. I would say from the expirience that I had at this show - it's one of the better venues in San Diego (not that that's saying much). The security was a little weird and questioned me for having a camera even though I was wearing my photo pass out in the open. The bar was even weirder - apparently you can't bring your drinks out from the bar area. I didn't know this. I had to finish my drink in like 5 minutes so that I could get out of there in time to shoot the first band. No bueno. Other than that, the sound was good, the lights were good, and it didn't get too hot inside. I liked that there are a couple different levels on the floor - after shooting the bands I was able to see from the back and I wished I brought my 70-200mm, I suck.

BØRNS

BLEACHERS

There new stage design is so fucking cool and fun to photograph. There's tons of mirrors and lights and everything was really awesome.

Of course, their set was brilliant. Pretty similar to the last tour.

So Jack almost fell off the stage and this is the face he made after he realized he was okay...

This is really where I wish I brought my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I had it in my hand as I was walking out the door and then I was like "eh, I don't wanna carry this all night - I don't even know what the venue is like". Kicking myself in the ass because of it.

Anyway Bleachers is always like a party on stage. At this show we got streamers and confetti.

CHARLI XCX

So I didn't know anything about Charli XCX before this show, besides that she sang on Iggy Azalea's song "Fancy". I'm personally not so into her music - but she can really sing and she put on a good show.
